Kebabs: Perhaps
one of the most famous dishes of Turkish cuisine is kebabs. There are various
types of kebab such as Adana kebab, Urfa kebab, shish kebab and döner.
Appetizers:
Appetizers are snacks usually served before the main course. There are various
appetizers such as hummus, babaganoush, ezme, haydari and şakşuka.
Pita and Lahmacun:
Pita is a type of pastry usually filled with meat, cheese or vegetables. Lahmacun
is a type of Turkish pizza made with a mixture of meat, onion and spices on
thin dough.
Dolma: Dolma is a
dish consisting of a mixture of rice, minced meat and spices wrapped in grape
leaves. Cabbage rolls have a similar recipe.
Iskender: Iskender is a type of kebab served with yoghurt
and butter on top of doner meat.
